Une attaque terroriste a été perpétrée le samedi 21 septembre 2013 dans le centre commercial Westgate à Nairobi (Kenya), tuant 69 personnes, selon la Croix-Rouge kényane, et en blessant plus de 200 autres. Le groupe islamiste al-Shabaab revendique ces attaques et les caractérisent comme une riposte face aux actions menées en Somalie par l’armée kényane.
Au lendemain de cette attaque, les sites de médias sociaux ( Twitter et YouTube) ont été submergé de post. Des images, des vidéos de l’intérieur du centre commercial. Des posts mis en lignes par des journalistes des humanitaires, des policiers qui ont partagé ce qu’ils ont vu.
